NFL'S LOCK OUT CBA DEAL.. the bottom line..

THE NFL - which stand for NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE , but I also term it as THE NOT FOR LONG LEAGUE, that includes coaching changes , team changes and of course player changes. But I also say Fans in general are turned off by all this lock out , short season, etc.. I mean I love watching this league , the drama , the comedy , the characters are unsurpassed compared to any sporting event. But guess what " greed " is killing the game.. I mean as fans , we see or hear about multi-million dollar contracts and owners making billions of dollars and the poor old true fans cant even afford to attend one game.. At San Diego the cheapest seat is $54.OO DOLLARS a ticket and that's in the family section nose bleed section, where the view is obstructed once a team gets close to the end zone closet to them.. Well it is or was a multi-purpose stadium built for Baseball , football and other special events like Motor cross or monster truck shows. But enough of that..
The bottom line to all this CBA talk = Collective bargaining agreement which is a set of rules and guideline both he owners and players abide by concerning , free agency , pensions. health care , rookie salaries , roster sizes, safety concerns etc.. The talk is about the proposed 18 game schedule, games outside the US, the setting of a salary pay scale for rookies and veteran alike.. But the most deciding factor is the sharing of revenue for the owners and players.. The players want more share of it and the owners don't want that. In other words they want to keep more money in their pockets.. You blame them. If I was a owner I want to make money.. Sure it would be nice to win a championship , but as long the fans keep coming " San Diego..
" Keep doing the same thing!" But the bottom lime issue is the Employer ( The owners are asking for a pay raise from the employee ( the players) They basically are asking the players to take a pay cut , even though the owners are the ones that contributed to the high and outrageous pay salaries. Now ask your self,, if the owner or the boss of your company , came up to you and said," Would please take a pay cut , I mismanaged the pay scale for the company , and I need to make cuts,, would you do it for the sake of the company.. I know you have been loyal and done everything I asked you to do , but I cant sustain such salaries.. Now , as a employee , most of you including myself , would say " fuck No!" I mean in this day in the age , you cant possibly ask anyone to take a pay cut , its tough enough already especially the rising cost of gas and all.
I believe the owners are not being totally truthful , in regards to their revenue or profits and the players are being too critical and demanding in regards to revenue sharing or players salaries.. They both understand they are taking chances at turning off many fans , including myself, I went through two strike filled replacement player seasons , and even made me rethink my love for the game. But now the game is at its highest popularity and now the players and owners are threatening law suits , lock outs , etc,. I see this being the longest and most emotional filled CBA in years. The players and owners have prepared for this show down,, The players and owners are going to have to feel the heat of not having money coming in and bills to play.. and possible fans canceling season tickets and possible legal actions from every where . I still believe NFL is King , but they have held the fans hostage for years with " Black outs, high prices for tickets and parking!" The fans seem to be the ones the get hurt by all of this. I mean , I will watch other things like Boxing and MMA , and I kind of like THE ARENA LEAGUE and Rugby ,, and College.. football . I can be a fan of those sports if the NFL punishes us with trial and law suits. If anything we are going to see how greedy both sides are and how they really could care less about you the fans.. Who by chance spend the money on games and Jerseys caps and other NFL labeled gear. I know emotions are controlling my thinking right now,, but as this drags on , I'm sure the rest of the fans are going to lose interest and faith in the league and at first, may boycott and decide to not get emotionally invested into players that demand too much money and attention and owners that threaten fans with Black outs , and hold outs , suspensions and heavy fines on silly penalties ,, by the way " where does all the money go to ? Pension funds ? really ? health care , medical plans ? really? Lets face it , both sides know America and the world is addicted to THE NFL.. but like everything else,.. you deprive your customers for too long , they will find alternative forms for their entertainment dollar. The times are changing and fans and future fans , may change their loyalties and viewing habits if the powers to be don't wise up.. But we all know we have two monsters with big egos and pride and large expenses to fill , so they will draw this out trying to out do the other , which is a locked out season, damaged feelings that linger for years and a fan base that is disgusted with their greedy players and owners that have forgotten , that the fans are who made them rich , and the fans will also make them fall. Once upon a time baseball was King , Boxing , even Basketball , but all those sports suffered because of greedy players and owners that have tricked , lied and held their fans hostage over the same issues that NFL is now going through. It's a shame THE NFL hasn't learned form those sports and is doomed to suffer their fates , regarding fan loyalty , fan appreciation and lastly fan dedication. There's too many other avenues of entertainment that fans can turn to and the NFL , is so arrogant thinking all this fame and fortune will continue under these issues looming.
Bottom line , both the players and owners are fighting over money , and the fans should wake and realize , they don't care about you , and the fact you work hard and even sacrifice things just to attend games. After this Locked out season , I believe many fans and players and owners will have a different perspective on life and THE NFL. In other words the Aura and prestige of the league will suffer and many fans , players and owners will realize that you can only hurt a fan or product so much before it loses its luster. Today's youth are more interested in music and movies and the sports idol is becoming less appealing. To be honest I don't blame them.. Why invest your time and money into something that threatens you , increases the cost of event and limits your access. Today's youth has other avenues of entertainment like Internet , Ipods , DVDS, Computers and games to occupy their times. Its a damn shame , THE NFL lacks the wisdom or the vision that by alienating and depriving the younger generation access to their product , the New generation will not tune in, or care to invest or develop a interest.
THE NFL may find out the hard way that my " Term " NOT FOR LONG !" may be the true meaning to the demise of the once great sport.. Until my next perspective .. Take Care.. THE SOURCE PRODUCTIONS @ 2011..
