The Los Angeles Chargers preview 2018!

Well San Diego Charger fans here we go again ! Another season where the experts and so called professionals are thinking and saying this team on paper is one of the best teams in the league . Well In the NFL , You have to perform under pressure ! Last year the Chargers lost so many games with missed field goals and turnovers at crucial times of the game . It’s historic how the chargers lose so many one possession games the most in NFL history . The fans have seen this and lived this for so many years so excuse me if I’m cynical or not buying into those experts who say this team is loaded ! The crucial injuries have begun Jason verret out for another year , the star tight end Hunter Henry out for the season. Is this team snake bitten ? It’s hard to dispute that fact , I mean recall that magical year 2007 when we have Rivers LT and Gates go down to injury in the  that AFC championship or even the year earlier Lose to the patriots in San Diego where we fumble commit penalties and miss chip shot field goals !? A curse ?
   This team still needs help on special teams coverage and a reliable kicker so far both kickers look average on both kick offs and field goal and extra point attempts . This team will not win if they dont have a quality special teams unit. The Chargers offense and defense are top
5 in the league but their special teams are the worst ever and I don’t see improvement based on yesterday’s pre season game ,as good as the defense looked they still struggle with run defense which was their demise last year when teams had a lead late they ran the charges out ! It has to improve or expect another 9-7 record . This is the year to win the division because of the changes in the AFC West , Coach Gruden with the Raiders and new QBs  at Chiefs and Broncos all those teams are in transition with new systems and styles . The Chargers have the best Quarterback and wide receiving corps in the division and perhaps the best defense too but like I says the special teams is a major issue that needs to be addressed! It’s still early but I want to see better special teams play and better run defense and better composure under close tight games this year ! That’s the difference between a good team and a great team . The Chargers need to make that move this year when the opportunity is there ! Based on what I have seen this looks like another 9-7 year because of a weak run defense and average special teams play . Just my thoughts I’m hoping the next few weeks we find that reliable kicker and better play on special teams coverage and run defense! But for now Thank God football is back !
