LA CHARGERS - WHAT THEY NEED 2017?

   First of, I'm still upset they left for Los Angeles, but on a business stand point ,that's a smart move , I mean LA has more people , more money , more opportunities!! To get famous , to make money. But I'm still upset..
   What the Chargers need, they need to win.. 4-12 and 5-11 is not going to do it. Plus they play in the toughest division in the NFL. The hiring of inexperienced head coach doesnt surprise me? Because i think Spanos is planning to sell the team and make a killing with the investment. Who I feel bad for is Philip Rivers and Gates , they played their hearts out only to be part of a rebuilding process that will not include them in a few years. The fact the chargers keep neglecting to build a line to protect rivers and block for Gordon is head scratching... The free agency might help , but this is the chargers they pay for the lowest talent.. It would be nice to get that big receiver in Brandon Marshall. that would help the deep threat like we had with Malcolm Floyd or Vincent Jackson.. As much I like Tyrell Williams , hes not physical enough and doesn't run consistent routes.. Inman is good but needs to gain muscle.. Keenan is great when hes in there , but he has missed more games than played.. Just my thoughts.. If the Chargers are daring Draft Mike Williams from Clemson.. but chances are they want Jabril Peppers or Malik booker.. Its hard to tell how the draft will go.. ? It never goes as planned.
   But if the chargers don't help that offensive line look to rivers throwing picks to avoid taking hard hits and Melvin Gordon , Danny Woodhead , Bradnon Oliver could take a beating.. The offense was very inconsistent last year especially in the red zone.. Without a big wide out .. and strong o line.. the chargers will struggle in the red zone.. that's why they lost so many games during the Mike McCoy Era.. 
  The defense decided to build around Joey Bosa.. 4-3 defense means they are going to emphasize pass rushing. and hope the line backers can cover the running back and tigh ends .. the cover corners will have their hands full since the safety position is weak. Lowery is slow and not very physical.. Adda is physical but not very fast.. Lets hope verret and Heyward don't get beat , because lowery and addae are not very good cover safeties.. That pas rush better get there. or that defense is in trouble.. 

  Now rivers, hes very good in throwing long  and medium range passes, but is very weak at short or scree passes and because of lack of speed , he cant run for the first down or bide time in the pocket. He has been great , but the next QB.needs to be more athletic and mobile,, its just the state of the game in the NFL.. even Brady can run when called upon..  The Chargers in my opinion will have a tough time winning next year. Because of the weak offensive line, the unstable receiving corps and new head coach. The team is under going a new direction ad its going to interesting to see if rivers buys in. 
  The defense is changing, and everyone has to adjust , the line backers on the chargers are good for run stopping , but are very slow.The chargers need a fast line backer to cover the running backs and tight ends.. Because for the past 4 years teams with fast running backs and tight ends beat the hell of of the chargers.. To be honest chargers have too many holes to fill Its good rivers has kept the chargers in games , the day he retires your going to see how weak or how lacking in talent the chargers are?
  Final thoughts.. The Chargers need to win and fast, because .. the LA market will discard them quickly if not already? Think about it they are lifetime losers for only brief periods early 1960's and the Air Coryell years in the 70's and the Boss Ross era in the early 90's.. and of course the Marty Years / Norv Turner years.. other than that , the team has lost more than they won.. So Good Luck in LA WITH THE DODGERS , ANGEL, LAKERS , USC , UCLA , CLIPPERS , having a history of winning .. oh yea The Raiders are popular too.. and now the Chargers , heck the Galaxy will probably draw more fans next year.. Did you the outrageous prices for Charger tickets.. Are they high ? Even the Patriots and Steelers or Cowboys are laughing and these teams win.. Yea .. The chargers are a team in deep need to rebuild and have  a long climb to be accepted if ever in LA.. 
 FINAL THOUGHTS. THE LA CHARGERS NEED TO WIN ,. but based on their weaknesses and needs I don't see the chargers winning more than 5-7 games if that.. remember the Broncos , Chiefs and raiders have younger and better squads. Rivers might the best QB from the group , with Derek carr right there.. But the other teams are better balanced and better coached then the chargers and based on that I see another frustrating season losing close games and watching Rivers and gates go though another season of losing. Just my thoughts.. Last year I predicted the chargers would win the division and finish 11-5 ,, it was the exact opposite 5-11 and cellar dwellers for the whatever time in their history. I hope I;m wrong , but I have a better perspective since I'm no longer a die hard fan rooting for the team.. I'm a upset fan that sees clearly whats wrong with the chargers. I will watch them on tv.. but fat chance I'm going to spend big money and drive 3-4 hours one way fighting traffic only to see them be exciting but lose.. But based on whats the new coaches philosophy, you might see more running and ball control offense ,,, to hide their passing weakness and hope that defense will create turnovers ,, if not look for a long season of low scoring games with wins over the jags, jets and browns..bills.. and maybe a division win against the raiders , chiefs and broncos.. ? 
    Enjoy the combine and the NFL DRAFT IN APRIL.. and lets see what the chargers do?
