What the LA Chargers need? 2017..

   First off they need to be healthy. losing Keenan Allen , Danny Woodhead , Jason Verrret , Manti Teo , Brandon Oliver .. Addae, Gordon at the end.. Just killed the Chargers. You cant keep losing key players and expect to win , especially in the very competitive AFC WEST which has all past SUPER BOWL WINNERS IN THE DENVER BRONCOS , OAKLAND RAIDERS AND THE KANSAS CITY CHIEFS.. I know the Raiders and Chiefs were many years ago,, But at least they won.. The Chargers have had some success but you have to win the Big game.. which they haven't done in 55 years of existence..
    The Chargers have many needs , Offensive line, A big body wie out ala. Vincent Jackson, Malcolm Floyd,, and a solid third down back like sproles like,, Maybe Hillman Oliver or newly acquired Kenyon Barner? They need a special back that catch run and block when needed. Danny Woodhead was great at that role , but his injury issues and age over 30.. kinda doomed his fate.. The off season we need to see who can step up?
  Now .. Defense , we need a another pass rusher like Bosa , since the bolts have decided to build the defense around Bosa. The Linebackers of Perry , Perryman and Brown are good against the run but they lack cover speed,,, Perry man is good , but another fast ,line backer would help.. The  Chargers have the 7th pick and based on the NFL combine and you tube videos of Jabril Peppers. the Chargers would be foolish to pass on such a play maker,, He may be undersized at the position but his speed is too much over look and if need be.. Use him as a safety.. Because Addae and Lowery are serviceable but not pass coverage safeties.. Thank goodness we have two number 1 , corners and proven pro bowlers in Verret and Heyward.  As for special teams , its definitely our weakest link, the Punter Kaiser is awful. He;s not consistent and put the chargers in bad field positions , one of the reason the chargers lost so many games last year. Now for Lambo, he may have a strong leg , but under stress he missed critical field goals and extra points.. In addition the blocking was horrible on both squads. The Chargers need a solid punt and kick returner. Keenan needs to concentrate on offense and Benjamin was a disappointment. Based on reports Benjamin was playing hurt through out the season. But then again the bolts have injury issues. Perhaps a new physical trainer and therapist. it seems like alot of wholes to fill and to be honest it is. But that's why we have upcoming drafts and free agency , trades etc.. Based on the AFC WEST foes.. its going to be a tough year for the Chargers .. Being swept by the Raiders , Broncos and Chiefs have been the norm the past 2 years.  All those teams have better coaching staffs and players as well as consistency .. Yes even the Raiders are doing better. I would Take Jack Del Rio over the current charger coach , or Even Andy Reid.. But that's another matter. Its going to interesting to see how the chargers do. Unless they fill those needs

2 safeties.. Both are ok, But not true cover safeties. and the AFC west has good wide outs as well as tight ends.. the chargers have struggled against teams with solid pass catching tight ends and running backs as well as running quarterbacks.. 

The special teams need a more consistent kicker and punter of them cost the chargers a few games last year and if they come back , they need to improve and be more consistent , or the chargers are  ready to lose more heart breaking games next year.. 

The new defensive coordinator. hmm???. He was Jacksonville jaguars coach.. they were terrible last year , so Go figure you hire a losing teams coach..? 

The head coach .. basically a running back coach with no head coaching experience.. other than being a interim coach when Rex Ryan was fired../ ? Once again , a questionable hire, but the Chargers are famous for hiring questionable coaches, ala Norv Turner and Mike Mccoy ,, together , they have put this team back ten years.. Its been a long time since this team was relevant and based on the new hires in the coaching staff I'm not impressed at all.. 

Suggestions: If you can Pick up big body wide out  from USC JUJU SMITH,, or Adore Jackson as the special teams star.. That could trigger LA fans to take a look at the team.. But you must lower those ticket prices at the stub hub.. Based on reports , fans are not biting to pay extravagant prices for a minor league stadium.. ? How dare the spanos Family insult the LA FAN BASE? i mean  Dodgers, Angels, Trojans, Bruins , Kings , Lakers , Clippers and even the raiders will attract more than the transplanted chargers. ?I dont understand, but then again.. they are the worst management organization in the NFL.. second to none,.  But lets see what happens. If anything I feel bad for Philip Rivers and Antonio gates who gave their hearts and souls for the team , only to be relegated to promoting a rebuilding process, They both know this team are not contenders until those needs are filled and though they might be exciting and might play better. But Those needs and weaknesses will rear its ugly head as the  season progresses. The Chargers have a tough schedule and with question marks about Allen and no Big body wide out and no solid slot or wide out , the offense looks like a work in progress. Then the defense , with a new scheme and coaching staff. expect growing pains and if your a charger fan. Expect inconsistent play with young players and aging veterans. My prediction for the Chargers based on their needs and their schedule .. I see or predict a another 4to 6 win season, with maybe a win or 2 in the AFC WEST.. AND THATS being generous, because the Chargers are playing 16 road games next year, when they play the Raiders in stub hub.. That's another home game for the raiders,, But let them play the games.. and see what happens??  based on the history of injuries and losing ,, and now a new coaching staff.. Don't expect a good or average season next year, but I will be watching because I'm a sucker for punishment like many charger fans.BUT.. ATLEAST WE HAVE LT ,, BEING INDUCTED IN THE NFL HALL OF FAME.. AS A SAN DIEGO CHARGER. HE will be the last great San Diego Charger to be inducted and that's something to look forward to this year!!!
