USS PELELIU -DAY TWO -JAN 18,2011
 OK, guys I had one day on board before going to IBS school - Integrated Barcoding System- basically the new way you do Logistics on board ships. Ok, We muster at 0600, but guess what LPO , didn't let me know about it? But I guess I should of called . my fault huh? Oh well The LCPO , greets me and he we go, after the biggest working party off load in years , 25 pallets this time. my arms are killing me , as well as my feet , ankles etc. But after that evolution , which included mail being lifted from the pier and walk on by us. I was ready to learn about my ALPO job in S-8 division. but Chief had other plans for me and the new check in Garza, we both stand in line for almost two hours and guess what , they didn't need me. was I upset , yes, but I'm trying something new this year and at this new command , i 'm going to grin a take it . I mean I have 23 months to go , who knows they might cap me , or try to break me. huh? ok.. after that deal I go back down to S8 and I get news of my new assignment.. Yes, I'm going to be ALPO -- LPO of S-9 DIV. Whats that? It is Haz mat division , it's where all the hazardous material is stored and passed out the crew. It's a dirty and corrosive job and a thankless one too. Everyone needs that stuff and I'm in charge! But get this I also get to lead or try to inspire 7 other personnel from other divisions on the ship to make sure they pay attention to detail. In other words I'm getting the guys or girls that divisions find expendable or hard to deal with. In other words I get the low life dip shits that the divisions can't handle or don't want to deal with. Wow, I get the misfits , well why not Ive been a misfit or hated person ever since I joined the Navy. So why not end my career that was actually one of the first jobs I had early in my navy days. Did I like it , hell no, I'm sure those people I'm getting are going to be fun to deal with.. Wow, what a difference a day makes , One day I'm ALPO for 22 Logistic specialists, and now I will assume LPO duties for 7 TAD folks and one other Logistic specialist. Lucky me, oh yea, I'm also in a duty section and it starts this weekend .. and later underway , can't give exact dates security reason.. I know this can help on my evals and perhaps a good shot at getting advanced , but Ive seen this before. But I'm taking the positive side and I'm going for it. If anything being on board and being so busy , leaves no time to gripe and complain. You have a job to do , you do it and then your off for the day.. Like I said we cam IN at 0600 and left at 1400. I like that we beat traffic coming in and leaving. If anything , I expected changes but not this fast , but then again My character or personality seems to bring out the best or worst in my upper command. Wish me luck , I plan on being low key , but it seems that never happens. But, I'm keeping a low profile , not being outspoken or even mentioning my literary skills or dancin prowess , at least not yet if ever. I'm gonna see if I can just be a regular guy for the next 23 months.. and see what happens to me professionally and personally.. A new year , a new beginning a new approach will bring different results in my life. You think ? Stay tuned until the next episode of the new source - quiet and normal??!!
